The Bible teaches how we can find eternal life through Jesus' sacrifice made on our behalf on the cross. God has a purpose for our life and finding this purpose begins with finding Christ.
1. We Are All Sinners
- The Bible teaches that everyone has fallen short of God's perfect standard. "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" - Romans 3:23.
- God made man in His own image. He gave man the ability to choose right from wrong. We choose wrong, also known as sin. Sin is any action, thought, or attitude that breaks His law, rebels against Him, or fails to do what is right. Because of sin, we are separated from God, and the penalty is death and hell. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23. If we continue in our sin, we will die without Christ and be without God forever.
2. God Provided the Solution
- God loves us so much He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the price for our sins. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16.
- Jesus lived a perfect life. All of our sins were laid on Him on the cross where he died, but three days later He arose from the dead and is alive forevermore, conquering sin and death. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8.
3. How to Receive This Gift
- HEAR: Listen to the message of Jesus through God's Word, the Bible. "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17.
- BELIEVE: Trust that Jesus is God's Son and that He died for your sins and rose again. "I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins.” John 8:24.
- REPENT: Turn away from your sins and commit to following God. "No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish." Luke 13:3.
- CONFESS: Declare your faith in Jesus as your Lord and Savior. "Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved." Romans 10:9-10.
4. A Simple Prayer to Begin
- We must personally pray and receive Christ by faith.
- The Bible says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13.
- If you're ready to accept Jesus, you can pray a prayer like this: "Lord, I know that I am a sinner. If I died today, I would not go to heaven. Forgive my sin, come into my life and be my Savior. Help me live for you from this day forward. In Jesus’ Name, Amen."
